Tata Consultancy Services slipped 0.80% to ₹2,434 on Friday, extending a stretch of underperformance that has left the IT bellwether nearly 29% below its 52-week high of Rs 3,350. The weakness comes despite the company reporting a 4.62% rise in Q1 FY27 net profit to Rs 13,349 crore on revenue growth of 13.9%, numbers that have been overshadowed by the fallout from TCS's decision to cut between roughly 12,200 and 23,460 jobs as AI reshapes the sector's workforce needs. Industry body Nasscom has since warned that more layoffs could follow across Indian IT, adding to the sense of unease around the stock. Brokerages, meanwhile, remain divided on where the stock goes from here — MOFSL and Choice Broking both maintain Buy calls with targets of Rs 2,350 and Rs 2,320 respectively, though Choice flagged near-term pressure, while SBI Securities pegs fair value in the Rs 2,700-2,800 range.
