Punjab National Bank was among the standout gainers in the banking pack, rising 1.94% to ₹117.85 on the back of steadily improving asset quality and credit growth. Domestic advances climbed 11.74% to ₹12,05,763 crore, while the credit-deposit ratio for global operations improved to 73.92% from 71.09% a year earlier, and gross NPA fell a full 100 basis points year-on-year to 2.78% of total advances. That clean-up narrative did take a hit, though, with the bank flagging a Simbhaoli Sugars loan account as fraudulent over alleged fund diversion. Even so, the stock's 12-month price target of ₹120.94 implies further modest upside from current levels, broadly in line with the analyst consensus average of ₹121.61 across 18 analysts who remain buy-rated on the name, and the counter has clocked a striking 25.67% CAGR over the last five years.
